Bradford Wolves DEI Policy

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Policy

Purpose

Bradford Wolves FC is committed to creating an inclusive, equitable, and welcoming environment where all players, families, coaches, and volunteers feel safe, respected, and valued. This Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Policy provides a foundation for ensuring that everyone, regardless of background, identity, or ability, can participate fully in our programs.

Our Commitment to Diversity

We recognize and celebrate the diversity within our community, including differences in race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, language, socioeconomic status, age, ability, and family structure. We believe diversity strengthens our club and enriches the experiences of all members.

Equity in Opportunity

Bradford Wolves FC is committed to removing barriers that may limit participation, advancement, or enjoyment of soccer. This includes:

  • Fair and transparent registration and team placement processes.
  • Consideration of financial, cultural, or accessibility needs.
  • Ensuring players have equal access to playing time at developmental levels.
  • Providing coaches with training on equitable coaching practices.

Inclusion in Practice

Inclusion means ensuring all participants feel they belong and are supported. To achieve this, all adults in our club must:

  • Use respectful, gender-inclusive, and culturally sensitive language.
  • Adapt coaching strategies for different learning and communication styles.
  • Create safe spaces where athletes feel comfortable expressing concerns.
  • Ensure no child is excluded, singled out, or marginalized based on identity.
  • Respect players’ names, pronouns, and cultural practices.

Zero Tolerance for Discrimination & Harassment

Bradford Wolves FC strictly prohibits all forms of discrimination, bullying, harassment, hate speech, and microaggressions. This applies to players, parents, coaches, referees, volunteers, and spectators.

Examples include (but are not limited to):

  • Racial or cultural slurs.
  • Sexist or misogynistic language.
  • Homophobic or transphobic comments.
  • Mocking accents, disabilities, or body image.
  • Excluding players based on identity or ability.

Violations will result in disciplinary action under the Club Discipline Policy.

Inclusive Coaching Expectations

Coaches play a crucial role in creating a supportive environment. Coaches must:

  • Encourage teamwork, respect, and empathy among players.
  • Challenge stereotypes and harmful language.
  • Provide equal encouragement and instruction to all players.
  • Adapt training sessions to support players with varying physical and cognitive abilities.
  • Avoid assumptions about skill, commitment, or behaviour based on identity or background.

Reporting Concerns

Any member of the club may report concerns related to discrimination, exclusion, or harassment. Reports may be made to the Club’s DEI Officer, Safeguarding Officer, or Club President. All reports will be:

  • Taken seriously
  • Handled promptly and confidentially
  • Investigated fairly
  • Addressed with appropriate action to ensure safety and accountability

Accountability & Discipline

Failure to uphold the DEI Policy may result in corrective or disciplinary action, including:

  • Verbal warnings
  • Written warnings
  • Required DEI training
  • Suspension from club activities
  • Removal from the club
  • Referral to governing bodies when applicable

Bradford Wolves FC reserves the right to take immediate action to ensure a safe, inclusive environment for all participants.
